Cover Reveal

Cover Reveal: Gods of the Stone Oracle

After two years of supernatural adventures, The Invisible Entente series is reaching its end. In early 2018, the reluctant group of heroes will once more be drawn together into a fight for their lives and the freedom of the otherworld.

Thanks to artist Ravven, Gods of the Stone Oracle, The Invisible Entente finale, now has a cover, and it is breathtaking.

To celebrate the release of the finale, I’m starting a giveaway campaign that will kick off the first week of December. Use the hashtag #IEAssemble across your Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts to enter to win weekly prizes until release day. More info to come, so keep your eyes peeled on my website for more news.

Huge thank-you to Ravven for hitting exactly the right tone for this book. Now excuse me while I keep staring.

COVER REVEAL: Howl of the Fettered Wolf

The next book of The Invisible Entente is almost ready to hit the shelves (and thanks to The Book Company on Bank St, I actually mean that literally this time), so I think it’s time for a first look at what’s coming.

In Song of Wishrock Harbor, we learned about Gorgon-Fae Gabriel Mulligan’s longing for the vengeance demigoddess (or semi-goddess as she jokingly refers to herself), Vera Goodall.

Now we see the goddess in action — and she is not happy. An unknown enemy is coming after her most prized possession, and there is nothing she won’t do to keep it safe.

Howl of the Fettered Wolf is the fourth book in The Invisible Entente series. With only two more books to go, the path is being set for what’s coming. A tale full of twists and turns, love and honour, friendship and loyalty, Vera’s story is sure to play with your heartstrings.

You can grab Wolf on June 27th. Be sure you’re signed up for my mailing list for first notice for when it’s available, as well as updates on the upcoming books.

Cover Artist: Ravven

For vengeance demigoddess Vera Goodall, balance is everything. Her life revolves around her contracts, her bookshop, and her dogs, and there is no room for anything — or anyone — else. Every aspect of her life is scheduled, and delegation is a four-letter word.

But when someone attempts to steal The Book of the Fettered Wolf, an ancient text with the power to destroy the otherworld, Vera will need to break all her own rules to keep that balance from toppling.

With the help of Gabriel Mulligan, the Gorgon-Fae who threatens the walls she’s built around herself, Vera sets out to protect the book from those who wish to use it. Along the way, she unveils the lies that have created the foundation of her life, and each new revelation blurs the line between friend and enemy.

In the midst of chaos and intrigue, balance becomes a matter of survival. Vera must decide who to trust and how much to open her heart if she wants to protect the otherworld and everything she holds dear.

Leave sparkly behind and get back to sexy

There’s a new band of vampires coming onto the market, and they are bound to catch your attention.

Newfoundland author, Tanith Frost, is getting ready to kick off her “Immortal Soulless” series, a dark and sexy romp that follows reluctant vampire, Aviva, and her colleagues.

I had the pleasure of reading an early copy book, and it’s steamy, funny, heartbreaking, and so much fun. A great summer read. Which is great! Because that’s when it will be available (psst, same day as the next IE novel, so your summer is set)

Want a sneak peek into the first book of the series? Tanith is offering the first four chapters if you subscribe to her mailing list! Just click here to go on and do that — but then come back, there’s still the cover to share with you!

Her gifts will be her salvation… or her downfall.

No one gave Aviva a choice about becoming a monster. Since the night of her murder she’s been forced to accept a new reality—burned by sunlight, dependent on the blood of the living, searching for her place in a dark world she didn’t believe existed until she awoke as a vampire.

She’s still struggling to accept her fate and master her dark powers when the news arrives: rogue vampires are torturing and killing human residents of the city, threatening the secrecy and uneasy peace of the supernatural world.

As the hunt begins, Aviva’s deliciously distracting trainer, Daniel, helps her seek out her unique strengths. The gifts she discovers are shameful in the eyes of vampire society—and they may be the only thing standing between a pack of ruthless paranormal killers and the unsuspecting humans they prey on.

COMING JUNE 27, 2017

I highly recommend this read and hope that you fall in love with it as much as I did.

Cover Reveal & Big IE News

You  know how every now and again, there’s a book cover that stops you in your tracks and you have to take a moment to appreciate all the subtleties and nuances of the image? The little details that would have been so easy to leave out, but the cover artist knew what a difference it would make if they slipped them in.

That’s what Ravven has done for me with Shadows in the Garden Hotel. With a brief description of the character and story, she has pegged Allegra Rossi’s character so solidly that I can’t picture her any other way.

So, of course, I don’t want to keep her a secret any longer. Please meet the latest addition of The Invisible Entente.

*hands handkerchief to clean up drool*

Once you’re ready, feel free to check out the blurb for the story that’s coming your way on April 18th:

All Allegra Rossi needs is her beauty, expensive champagne, designer clothes, and enough souls to keep her succubus appetites satisfied.

Everything seems to be in place until a photo shoot at New Haven’s prestigious — and supposedly haunted — Garden Hotel sets her dreams for a perfect life crumbling. Not only has her handsome, charismatic boss captured her interest, threatening the careful restraints she’s placed around her succubus nature, but the hotel’s reputation turns out to be true. Worse: the specter has targeted Allegra as its next victim

If Allegra wants to stay alive and keep her heart intact, she will have to unleash her demonic instincts to shed light into the darkness before the shadows consume her.

What I thought would be my most challenging story of the series has easily become my favourite, and I look forward to sharing it with you.

Even better, I look forward to sharing it with all of you, even if you’re not a Kindle user.

That’s right. As of today, The Invisible Entente series will be leaving the Kindle Select program and migrating to other distributors, including iBooks, Nook, and Kobo, as well as Amazon. I wanted to give it a solid effort, but the fact of the matter is I hate excluding people.

COVER REVEAL: Dawn of the Vie by Laura Diamond

I’ve followed Laura’s writing career with interest for years, and I’m over the moon to see her recent comeback into the publishing arena. A beautiful storyteller with a sharp wit, killer imagination, and the more adorable cats, she’s definitely an author to follow.

Today, I’m happy to help promote her cover reveal for Dawn of the Vie! So pretty!!

Dawn of the Vie
Laura Diamond
(Immortal Aliens, #1)
Published by: Curiosity Quills Press
Publication date: October 3rd 2016
Genres: Dystopian, Science Fiction, Young Adult

Since their Arrival less than 30 years ago, immortal Vie rule the planet like the super-predators they are. Enslaved humans are their servants…their entertainment…and their food. Anemies—humans with various types of anemia—are simply exterminated. Their nutritionally deficient blood is useless to the Vie.

Or so it’s thought…

Alex, an Elite Vie, is a bit of a Renaissance Alien. Part scientist, part Raid Specialist, part drug addict, he knows Anemie blood is valuable. Rather than blindly carrying out his boss’s kill order, he convinces some colleagues to spare a few Anemies, not only for study, but also to reserve a secret stock.

The more Anemie blood Alex drinks, the more he slips into delusion, and the more his double life threatens to crumble. But quitting Anemie blood is not an option. Every Anemie has their own personal flavor. Each gives a unique high.

When Alex takes a hit of Justin’s blood, his hallucinations bleed into reality…

Anemie Justin knows his little sister, Sammie, and he are living past their expiration dates. It becomes a guarantee when they’re bitten by a Vie named Alex during a raid. (The bite is fatal, thanks to a toxin carried in Vie saliva.) Alex adds insult to injury by promising Justin a second chance—an antidote in exchange for agreeing to be a lab rat.

And a mule…of his own blood.

When Justin says no, Alex takes off with Sammie.

All Justin has to do is find them, beat Alex, and cure himself and Sammie. All he has is a stake and serious lack of self-preservation.

No problem.

Alex wants Justin’s blood.

Justin wants his sister back.

Project Unveiling and Cover Reveal!

Lots of big changes happening around here this week, and today you get a first look at the results!

I’ve decided to create a new website – no longer just a blog, but an actual site for people to find information about my books. Not that The Raven’s Quill is going anywhere. I’m going to keep running this blog for the Andvell A-Z series, writing process posts, and author interviews. A few pages – like my works in progress, and excerpts – will disappear from here, but still be found at (drumroll please):

It’s still pretty basic right now, but more content will be added as the weeks go on. Considering I’m a borderline technophobe, and the fact that Venn would have been proud of me for the words coming out of my mouth at certain steps, I’m proud of it!

Need more incentive to go check it out? The Blightlore cover reveal is happening there TODAY in all of its stunning glory. You’ll  also see that I’m offering a free e-copy of “A Step Too Far”, a short story that takes place between Evensong and Eventide for those of you who haven’t had a chance to download it yet. So as much as I hope you’ll still join me over here, I’m looking forward to connecting with you all in my new space!

BLOODLORE Cover Reveal

Today’s the day – the COVER REVEAL. It’s the day that makes the whole process real … and gives the stress a good boost as it sinks in that I only have a month to get this book into the best possible condition for you guys.

I’m sure many of you know the history of Bloodlore, but in case this is your first time here, I’ll give you a quick rundown. The Cadis Trilogy is a follow up to my now best-selling Meratis Trilogy. Venn Connell was introduced as a secondary character in book 2, Eventide, and, before many pages had passed, hijacked the story, quickly becoming a popular favourite. She bullied her way into my head and convinced me her story was only getting started in Meratis.

Venn has been ragging me for weeks not only to get Bloodlore polished and released, but also to get Blightlore drafted. I’ve tried explaining to her that I can only do so much in a week, but she called me weak, and a slacker. As yet she hasn’t gone as far as threatening to stab me, but she has provoked me enough to throw this together:

But now that I’ve mollified her ego a little bit, I can get to the real reveal. The release date for Bloodlore is slotted for the week of May 25, 2015, and I hope to have a pre-order link available soon!

The beautiful artwork was done by the uber talented Jeff Brown, with the familiar typography by Colin F. Barnes.

Venn Connell is bored.

When the Andvellian ambassador in Margolin goes missing, she jumps at the chance to find him, but quickly learns the mystery goes deeper than one missing courtier.

With border tensions rising, a man vanishing before her eyes with a relic she believed lost, red-clad soldiers out for blood, and something dark following her from the charred ruins of Treevale fortress, Venn becomes a pawn in an unseen game.

Forced to confront her past and question her future, Venn knows she has to tread carefully. One wrong move and she could lose herself in the shadows, and hurl her country into war.

Isn’t is beautiful? Can’t wait to see what Jeff comes up with for 2 & 3! *dances*

Sale Numbers and Cover Reveal Preview

As I mentioned in my last post, I had my first experience with a BookBub ad on April 5, 2015, and would post some results for people who are interested. I’ll start with that, and then move on to the other exciting news, which is that Bloodlore is getting its cover reveal on Monday!

So. BookBub. I’d heard varying things about how worthwhile this most prestigious of book ads might be. Fantasy is a saturated market, everyone using their dragons to compete and their magic to tear down their enemies, so I didn’t have terribly high expectations for the day.

I’m sure you’ve all heard by now that my first novel, Evensong, is free for your ereader (if not, where’ve you been?), and as I mentioned in my last post, I reduced Eventide to 99c for the day. The ad kicked in around 10am EST, and by 2pm, I was already in the 5-digit range, with sales on books 2 & 3 moving along at a nice pace. At its peak, Evensong hit #1 in a few categories, including Free Kindle Fantasy. It hit #5 in the entire Free Kindle Store. Eventide reached #1 in a few sub-categories, and for the first time in my publishing career, I got one of those lovely yellow “#1 Amazon Best-seller” stamps.

I’m sure it goes without saying – that was a really great day. Am I satisfied with the results? Oh, absolutely. Since the initial drop over the first couple of days, the numbers have stayed steady, giving me the hope that I didn’t choose the wrong career path after all. I realise the results will change depending on a trillion different factors, and this is just one person’s experience, but if you’ve been on the fence about whether or not to apply for your ad space, I hope I’ve been of some help!

Now onto the other, more exciting, newses.

Bloodlore has a cover! It actually got a cover over a month ago, and it has been incredibly difficult for me to sit on it as long as I have. But the release date is coming up in about a month’s time, and I feel my patience should be rewarded.

Be sure to check back on Monday, April 27 for the full cover and blurb, and if you’re interested in helping me spread the word on your own blog sites, please send me a message at theravens (dot) quill (at) gmail (dot) com, or leave a comment below!

All the excitement and the moving forward and glee!
